The Models
One of Australia’s biggest bands of the ’80s are re-forming.
The Models – featuring Sean Kelly and James Freud – will reunite for two special performances one in Melbourne and the other in Sydney this September.
The shows coincide with the band’s 30th anniversary.
Aside from an appearance at the Countdown Spectacular in 2006, it’s the first time that Sean and James have toured as The Models in eight years.
“We might go into hibernation occasionally – actually, quite a lot,” Sean says, “but we have never broken up.”
Appearing with The Models for these two special shows are Australia’s very own “perfect pop” band The Reels featuring ‘Uncle’ Dave Mason, John ‘Boy’ Bliss and Colin ‘Polly’ Newham, The band that we all loved (Love Will Find A Way, Prefab Heart, Quasimodo’s Dream).
Cuthbert & The Night Walkers have been invited as guests to open both shows. Fusing together a keen musicianship with a healthy dose of theatricality, the band’s first outings drew them to the attention of triple j, who recently awarded the band winners of their triple j Unearthed competition.
